Year 11 and Year 12

Who this course is for

This course is for Year 11 and Year 12 English Advanced students who want better results from the time they spend studying. You might know your texts but struggle to explain your ideas, find it hard to start an essay, or want to improve answers that already earn good marks.

Your tutor reads your writing and helps you understand where you are losing marks. You then practise the skills you need, such as explaining a quotation, planning an argument or answering a new question within the time limit. Small classes give you time to ask questions and get help with your own work.

How we help you improve

Write answers that earn more marks

We teach you how to understand a text, explain your ideas and answer the question you are given. You practise these skills in writing, receive specific feedback and use it to improve your next answer.

Understand and explain your texts

Learn how a writer uses language and structure to express ideas. Practise choosing useful quotations and explaining how they support your answer to the question.

Plan and write a clear essay

Learn to state your main argument, plan your paragraphs and support each point with evidence from the text. Practise adapting your ideas to the question and finishing within the exam time limit.

Know what to improve next

Your tutor explains where your writing needs more detail, clearer reasoning or a closer link to the question. You use that feedback to revise your work and practise the same skill in your next response.

Weekly lessons and exam practice

How the weekly program works
